Bach Consort playing in St Thomas' Church, Belfast

Bach Cantatas at St Thomas’

The Church Cantatas of J.S. Bach are numbered among the most important church music of all time. They were composed to correspond with the Sundays of the church year, and each one is a compact masterpiece of choral writing, consisting of about 20 minutes of music for soloists and choir.

The Belfast Bach Consort is a group of musically-minded friends who have decided to gather once a month and perform a Bach cantata in the context of a worship service, which was their original purpose. These take place in St Thomas’ church, Belfast, on the Lisburn Road, on the second Sunday of each month (apart from December, and during the summer break).

These services are open to the public, and all are welcome. As this is a service of worship, there is no charge, but a collection will be taken for the work of the Parish.
